[Issei is knocking on his friends' doors and giving them their gifts today. Why today? He's worried about being indisposed at Christmas.

What are his gifts? Bouquets. Each with a different kind of flower. If the door isn't answered when he knocks, he'll leave the flowers wrapped up nicely by their door with a note that reads simply "Merry Christmas. - Ryudo Issei."

I know a little, yes--though I suspect my limited knowledge of plantlife is not entirely what you mean. I don't remember very much about a greater use for roses, at least.

Let me think... Red roses for love, of course. White roses for innocence, red and white together for unity. Yellow roses for joy, red and yellow together for happiness. [Yellow used to mean jealousy.] And pink roses for friendship.

It might have been for the best. This is why I always look up the meaning of what I'm giving to someone, especially when all my gifts are flowers this year. I had to resort to holly to say what I wanted. You can't have a bouquet of holly.

'Domestic happiness'? I can think of several things I knew holly to be associated with, primarily death. I don't think domestic anything is among them.
