The travel brochure says we're in Prospero Island in America. How did we get here? This doesn't seem like a school trip.

[ He is almost emotionless--stoic--his words lacking any trace of what he's feeling or thinking. ]

[ Something stirs behind him, in the bed. Rather, someone. The teenager hears it and turns around, watching as a black-haired girl slowly sits up from the bed. She looks at the boy, looking rather surprised. ]

Ah. [ Souji looks back to the phone then to the girl. ]

We're on Prospero Island. I woke up earlier and was in this room with you.

[ The girl however is staring at the phone--at the feed, realizing something unscrupulous may have just occurred. While she was asleep. She cuts him a sharp glance. ]

What do you mean by that? You just happened to wake up here with me?

[ The boy, unabashed: ] Yeah. [ A very minor pause before continuing: ] If you want to use the shower, the bathroom is behind this table...

[ The feed cuts off. ]

I'm afraid going back home isn't an option. We're not even in our own universe. It might look like the same compared to your home world, but it's not. There have been those who left here but no one knows how they did it.

So the only option we have available is to stay here until a solution is found.

That's correct. Fortunately, they only appear at midnight and just for that hour. The locals aren't affected by it but we can see them for some reason. The monsters here are known as Shadows.

There are a few people here trying to research what they are, their purpose and anything else about them. So far there's not many leads but we know that for each type of Shadow, they have their own weaknesses and strengths. Luckily, we have someone, Atsuro, who created and has been updating a Shadow database of sorts.

Well in most cases they to attack us. Why though is still a mystery. Conventional weapons have some effect but there's another way.

It's called a Persona. All of us have the ability to summon one getting it appear for the first time can be difficult. Think of it like summoning magic. They take on forms of figures or creatures from folklore and mythology. Their abilites are reflect their user's personality and skills.
