[The day after her unfortunate introduction to Prospero in the middle of the Dark Hour, Asuka quite guiltlessly slept until 11 am and, nonplussed to find herself still in this weird town, set about assessing her situation and getting stock of her available resources - to say nothing of washing up after her first real hand-to-hand combat experience. Once all that's done, however, she begins on her first and most obvious asset - the phone.]
Okay.
So.
I'm in 'Prospero', in the US. I have no idea how I got here, let alone who managed to spirit me off a verdamnt aircraft carrier in the middle of the Pacific. Well, as long as I'm in Prospero, 'if this were played upon a stage, I must condemn it a most improbably fiction'.
Before any idiots ask, I'm referencing Shakespeare, okay?
Anyway, someone had better explain to me what's going on here. I have very important business in Japan, which, by the way, the fate of the world depends on, and my employers are not going to be happy about this involuntary leave here. And this is without even going into whatever the hell that trip was last night. Seriously, Analytical Psychiatry is bunk anyway.
[Finally, she brandishes her letter]
And one last thing - how and why am I enrolled in high school here?!

It happens every night, and it's real.
Nobody knows why we're in school, either. The dorms aren't bad, though.

I figured out it's real, though. Unlike some pre-Impact filmmakers, I know getting hurt in a dream doesn't cause you actual physical harm. I just don't get opera heroines appearing from thin air and stabbing monsters for me. I've seen a lot of weird shit in my time with NERV, but this was a new one. And what were those monsters, anyway? Really, really tiny Angels?
[Audio]
Angels...?
You know, Angels. Big city-destroying monsters? You look Japanese, you should know this.
[Audio]
I've never heard of them.

What kind of organization out to save the world would be using young ladi- heck, using anyone your age? Seems a bit strange if the adults aren't cleaning whatever mess they got into.

blondgolden haired guy suddenly appearing on screen? He totally looks like one of those rich bachelor types that every teenager girl must dream of. You know, until he opens his mouth.]Do you honestly believe a child like you could ever hope of saving the world? I'm sure your 'employers' were only using you for some ulterior motive. Perhaps they just wanted to watch a pretty young girl die a meaningless death?

Other than a trap?Someone much more pleasant than Gilgamesh, that much is certain. ]Your business, as important as it may be, is on standby as this place has it's own purpose for you.

This place has a purpose?
Most certainly it does. It may remain shrouded in shadows, but there is a purpose for our arrival.

Looks like you've already gotten the rundown.

[That's about as close as you're going to get to a 'thank you for saving my ass']
Well, the 'what' is easy enough to figure out, it's the 'why' and the 'how' that are bothering me. And the 'when can I go home'.
