Chapter 08 ~ Action
[ If you happen to decide to visit the bookstore today (or, you know, you work here), you'll notice there is a fairly large amount of books laying in front of the store, as if they were tossed out with little care. We're talking piles of books, guys. You can probably take them if you want, because it doesn't seem anyone is actually paying attention to what the hell is going on. Just be careful if you walk into the store, because you may or may not be pelted with even more books. Why? Because Gilgamesh. Do we really need to say more? He's been busy going through literally every book in the store, and discarding any he finds offensive. You can already tell where this is going, right?
Gilgamesh. In the bookstore. Disposing of books. While wearing this. Yes, your worst nightmares have come true. Gilgamesh is the new owner of this fine establishment, much to the horror of two certain servants who just so happen to work here part-time. How will they react? How will you react? Let us find out on today's action packed episode of Goldie Takes Over The World! ]

I'm not even concerned about selling anything. Mongrels of this era will buy anything. But I refuse to be a part of the further stupidification of the human race.
[ Never mind the fact he's actually thrown out classic literature along with stupid sparkling creatures and certain religions. ]
no subject
You can't stop people from being stupid.
At least if they're reading, they aren't hopeless.
Do what you will with them. They are your belongings, now.
I'm only stacking them.
no subject
[ Grumblegrumble. He doesn't like things and never will he is just a grumpu old man. ]
Whatever. If they want to pollute their minds with such filth, let them.

I do enjoy a mystery novel now and again. You've heard of those, right?
Not everything man makes is drivel.
I sincerely doubt you read every book you tossed out of this store today.
no subject
And of course I didn't. I wouldn't have time to do that much. A few pages should be enough to tell if a book is worthy or not.
no subject
And you can't tell a book is going to be worth anything by flipping a few pages.
Why did you even buy this place? You don't even seem like you've read more than a history book in your life.
no subject
As for why? Simple. I have to keep an eye on her.
[ but who could this mysterious her be dun dun dun ]
no subject
Her~?
[Now you've gone and brought back that awful smile.]
Now I see. All of this was to impress some girl~?
You really are just a child with too many playthings.
So, tell me, did it work~? Has she been swayed into your waiting arms~?
no subject
[ And nope he's not going to be so easily trolled okay totally pokerfacing. ]
And I really don't see how that's any concern of yours.
no subject
Of course, I'd hate for you to call me something so ugly in public.
Your dead language is atrocious.
And I'll take that as a no. Seems like quite a bit of work for unrequited love.
no subject
...And make no mistake. I bought this place so I could keep an eye on her. I do not trust the company she keeps.
no subject
I don't care about some archaic civilization that died out miserably.
I truly think your problem is that you have too much time on your hands.
Stalking women and correcting typos? I thought a king would have much more...kingly things to occupy himself with.
But you, you sit in a dusty bookstore you bought claiming to keep an eye on someone. So, where is she? Seems to me, you can't even stalk her right. Tch.
no subject
And she's off duty. It's not as if I can keep her here all the time.
[ Something about breaks or whatever. ]
no subject
You have everything a man could ask for and yet you cannot make your own sport.
A real man does not cry for action, he seeks it out or causes it.
[She shakes her head a bit.]
If she's smart, she'll stay on break permanently. I wouldn't blame her.
no subject
[ Shit, did he actually confess that to himself for once?
...Dealing another blow to his own ego, nice jerb Beato. ]
no subject
Oh, that's rich. What do you get for the little boy who has everything?
A little girl, apparently.
[Enjoy this hearty cackle at your expense, Gil.]
You come on so strong and you can't even convince a girl to give you the time of day?
If you're trying to win her over with your charm, I can see how that would have the opposite effect. However, if you know she feels nothing for you, why do you pursue her? Certainly that's degrading even for you.
no subject
Do you even understand anything? Out of all the women I've put to bed, not one of them put up even a bit of a fight. They all willingly submitted themselves to me, just because of who I was. All I ever sought was someone to be my equal. I had that in Enkidu, but the Gods robbed him of his existance. When I found myself summoned from my grave into the accursed Holy Grail War, I finally managed to find someone that caught my attention. Her. The Saber class servant who claims to be the King of Knights, the King Arthur of legend. She provided the challenge I sought, and the beauty I admired.
To give up on her is to admit I can never win a woman over on my own, without the use of my position.

Get a hold of yourself. Yes, you've suffered, but you add to your own suffering like a masochist. She may be everything you dreamed she would be, but what have you lost in search of her? You are a king. You're wealthy and handsome...to a degree. Yet you pine away for that which is already lost to you. And she is what your own self worth hinges on.
You're absolutely pathetic and it's no one's fault but your own.
no subject
Perhaps you are right. I've thrown my title around so much that is holds no more value. Not that it even did in this place. But if it was as simple as letting go, I would have done that ages ago. It's an addiction. An unhealthy obsession. I've already realized this, but I can't stop myself.
no subject
The first step is admitting you have a problem. That's what they say, right?
Addictions can be broken, but the thing is, you have to want to. You just bought an entire store in the hopes that she'll look your way. I don't think you want to move on or that you'd be ready to if it came down to it.

[ The silence pretty much says it all. She's right, and he knows she's right. But what else can he really say? It was rare enough for him to show any sign of weakness, but today... really hasn't been his day. He's run out of fucks to give. And thus, he'll resign to a defeated sigh as he falls into a conviently located reading chair. ]

In my opinion, you need to make a few decisions. Maybe not tonight. Maybe not for a week. But you need to find out if this was all worth it.
Unrequited love makes one unfathomably bitter and it will eat at you.
I, personally would like to see you rise above this...obsession and be the man you were brought here to be.
You could run this place if your efforts were better focused.
But that can't happen as lovelorn as you are, now.

Combined with her words which might actually serve to stroke his ego, just a little, it shouldn't be to surprising when he makes his own move. A hand raising itself just high enough to brush one of her curls out of her face and to the side. ...And possibly letting his hand linger there for a moment. ]
Keep these antics of yours up and you may just capture my attention, witch.
But your words do hold some truth, and perhaps I'll see what I can do. If I can do anything.
no subject
It seems I already have. At least for the moment.~
But, you see, I don't play second to anyone, no matter how delightful she is.
If you manage to break this spell of hers, though, I might consider disliking you a little less.
no subject
Now, now. Don't get ahead of yourself. You've yet to prove you're entirely worth my interest. But I suppose I can keep an eye on you, in case you do provide some sort of entertainment.
